Blake & Madeline
What was your favorite memory from your Sea Island Wedding?
I honestly can’t pick just one memory! From getting ready with all of my girls in the Black Banks Parlor to the ceremony of my dreams, our wedding day was absolute perfection. One of our favorite memories from that day was The Cloister Ballroom reveal. We had brainstormed and planned this event for months, but nothing could have prepared us for how magical it looked once all of the decorations and flowers were set-up. Seeing the ballroom before all of our guests and getting to take in every detail without any distractions was a magical experience that I’m so grateful the wedding team had planned for us. To see everyone’s hard work and plans come to fruition and then be able to practice our first dance before our guests entered the room, we were beyond grateful for that time and look back at that special memory fondly.
How did you hear about Sea Island?
My husband, Blake, grew up coming to Sea Island and it is the first place he took me once we started dating in 2014. We have come a couple times a year since that first trip and it has always been our favorite place. To now have had the most magical wedding there, Sea Island forever has our hearts.
If you grew up coming here, what is your favorite past Sea Island memory?
Our favorite memory is participating in the 4th of July parade. We attended the parade every year, but finally joined the procession in 2019. We had no idea what we were getting into and had an absolute blast. We decorated our Jeep, dressed up and tossed candy to the kids. As soon as we made it through the entire parade, we wanted to go again!
What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
The chosen décor truly evolved over our entire nine-month engagement. We started out trying to choose colors for our invitations. Knowing that a spring wedding needed color, but we both prefer more neutral, subtle tones, we ultimately decided on sage green with pops of light pink and orange. From there, we fell in love with the more intimate atmosphere of a draped ceiling with tons of greenery to give guests an outdoor, garden feeling. We knew from the beginning we wanted an elegant, seated dinner, but with surprises that showcased our personalities i.e. the espresso martini bar and the candy display!
After the wedding was over, were you pleased with the details? How would you describe your experience at Sea Island?
Pleased is an understatement! Everything went flawlessly and they made our every dream come true. As they know, I came into this process with hundreds of ideas expecting only a couple to be possible, but they went above and beyond to make them happen. I know the wedding team does a lot of events every year, but we felt completely special and that our event was their top priority!
