My Sea Island Story

  • Chef Eric Fullem

    Eric Fullem

    Executive Chef of The Lodge

“I always wanted to work at Sea Island, and have been impressed with the people who work here.”

I first began working in Food and Beverage because I needed a job. However, I quickly discovered a love for this line of work and was encouraged to attend culinary school. After graduation, I wanted to work at luxury resorts and Sea Island was on my wish list. Since 2015, when my wish came true, I have held several positions including Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef of the Beach Club, and now Executive Chef of Events. I am so proud to have my mother join me each year at our Mother’s Day Brunch, where our chefs and their mothers serve our members and guests. I am very impressed with the professionalism and caring of my fellow team members. I am so happy to be a part of the Sea Island family and strongly encourage you to consider joining our team.

    Diamond Wright

    Laundry Department Manager

“Sea Island is home. It’s always been my home. It has changed my life.”

Sea Island has always been familiar to me. More than 20 members of my family have worked for the resort throughout my lifetime, so it was only natural for me to look to Sea Island for a summer job back in 2003. Since then, I have worked in the Snack Shack, In-Room Dining, Housekeeping, and now serve as an Administrator in the Laundry Department. One of my favorite things about the company is that if you can’t quite figure out what you want to do or will be good at, you have the opportunity to grow and find your best fit. And, just as importantly, they’ll make sure that you have the tools to be successful. Here, you can have opinions and be heard. I even suggested the name of a new restaurant, and my suggestion won! If you are choosing where to work in our area, Sea Island is your answer.

  • Kevin Benton

    Houseman
“Sea Island saw the potential in me and has given me the opportunity to grow.”

After starting as a Greensperson on the golf courses, I became a Houseman and worked in several different locations at Sea Island. While working in Housekeeping, I was cross trained to work in the famed Men’s Locker Room. I had excellent trainers and now the company has entrusted me to train other team members. I enjoy having the opportunity to pay it forward. I’m able to care for my family because of my job and the great benefits it provides. I’ve also been blessed to get to know some of the families who visit the resort. I have had the opportunity to work with and meet great people, so I would say that people — the team members as well as our guests and members — are among the best benefits of working at Sea Island. It’s a great company that encourages its team members to succeed. In turn, I encourage anyone looking for a great job to look to Sea Island.

  • Jimmy Salmeron

    Valet Supervisor

“I love my job and the people I work with. Sea Island treats me so well.”

I first learned about Sea Island when I moved to Brunswick in 2008 to attend the College of Coastal Georgia. I had several friends who worked for the resort and encouraged me to apply for a position. Today, I serve as the Valet Supervisor at The Cloister. Working in valet gives you the opportunity to meet and interact with guests in a special way. Families who return year after year have become friends and I have watched their children grow up. I’ve also gained valuable communication skills and knowledge by interacting with people from many different backgrounds and cultures. The relationships that you can build here with guests, members, and coworkers, are very rewarding. I’m still working alongside many of the coworkers I first started with. You truly become a part of a family that supports one another. If you want to find endless opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, Sea Island is the place to do that.

  • Tim Mann

    Bellman

“I love the work that I do.”

I began my career at Sea Island in 1996, working in golf course maintenance and then landscaping. I’ve been in my current role of Bellman since 2007. It’s rewarding to talk to our guests as I walk them to their rooms and help unload their luggage. If it’s their first visit, I love to tell them about Sea Island or welcome them back if they are returning. I also enjoying greeting our members and guests in the lobby and hearing about their day or upcoming adventure. Recently, I celebrated 25 years working at Sea Island and was inducted into the Quarter Century Club. This club has about 90 people in it and I’m proud to be a part of it. I love the work that I do and the company that I work for. If you’re currently looking for a job, I urge you to see what opportunities are available at Sea Island.

  • Felicia Singleton

Membership Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist

“The company truly cares about your professional growth.”

I first learned about Sea Island in 2013, when I read information about an upcoming job fair. My experience at the time had been in childhood education, so I was nervous about being qualified to work in hospitality. In my first position as a Hostess, the team welcomed me immediately. I quickly learned that if you work hard enough and believe in yourself, Sea Island will train you and give you the tools you need to become successful in any position. I have since moved over to The Lodge working as a Front Office Manager, and truly love my job and the people that surround me. We are a very close-knit team, and as a manager, it is very important for me to know that our team is happy and maintains a healthy work-life balance. Sea Island is such an amazing place to work, and I hope you consider joining our team.

  • Kyle Thigpen-Hicks

    Associate Director of Revenue Management

“Sea Island encourages my professional growth.”

Growing up in this community, I have always been familiar with Sea Island and had several friends and family who worked for the company. I began my career at Sea Island in 2013 as a Front Desk Agent at The Cloister. Since then, I have progressed through various roles including Revenue Analyst, Revenue Manager, and Senior Sales Manager overseeing the travel agent business at Sea Island. Recently, I was promoted to the Associate Director of Revenue Management where I am responsible for helping forecast room occupancy, setting room rates and managing our Travel Agent, Group and small Golf Group Reservations teams. At Sea Island, I’m surrounded by the best and most intelligent people in the hospitality industry who continue to teach me new things, challenge my thinking, and encourage my professional growth. It is rewarding to work at Sea Island because I am encouraged to share new ideas and have support in implementing them. It is also fulfilling to have the opportunity to cultivate growth opportunities for other team members and share my knowledge. If you’re looking for a place that will help you start a career or continue growing in your current career, I highly recommend considering Sea Island.

  • Natasha Zeal

    Chef de Partie

“The company truly cares about your professional growth.”

When my husband, Danny, was asked to join the opening team for the Georgian Room restaurant at The Cloister in 2006, I also came along for the adventure. Having grown up with parents in the restaurant business, it was a natural fit for me to attend the Culinary Institute of America. That sparked my passion for pastries, which led to a series of roles for me at Sea Island, including my current role as Chef de Partie for the Bake Shop. No two days are alike there. Each of the restaurants has its own theme and each wedding has its own flair, which gives my team and me a great opportunity to be creative and grow our skill set. If you’re looking for a job with great benefits, great people and great opportunity, Sea Island is the place for you.
