The Rendell family’s connection to Sea Island began in 1974 when Brad’s parents, Mills and Betty Rendell, first visited the resort at a friend’s recommendation. Enchanted by the charm and serenity of the Island, they decided to make it an annual family tradition. During those years, Brad met his wife, Mindy, at the University of Georgia.

Over the span of their 37-year marriage, Brad and Mindy continued this tradition with their growing family, which includes their three children and chocolate lab, Boone. With the arrival of Brad and Mindy’s grandchildren, the Rendells have created Sea Island memories spanning four generations, savoring sunny days filled with golf, tennis, pickleball and beachside relaxation.

Though the family calls Winnetka, a suburb north of Chicago, their primary home, 6th Street on Sea Island is their sanctuary. “When it came time to choose a place for our second home,” Mindy shared, “Sea Island was our only choice. Everything about it—the people, the community, the beaches and the golf—captures our hearts.”

Sea Island has been the stage for countless Rendell family milestones. Their children grew up exploring Easter egg hunts, delighting in Rainbow Island Suppers and the Jeep Train, and celebrating holidays with toes in the sand. Viewing New Year’s Eve fireworks on the island has become a family tradition. In June 2022, their daughter Brittany’s dream came true when she married at the resort, adding a magical chapter to their family history.

Favorite spots like Southern Tide, known for its irresistible seafood tower, Tavola with its handmade pasta and exquisite wine selection and the back lawn at The Lodge, offering breathtaking ocean views and enchanting bagpipe performances at dusk, have become cherished family haunts. Sea Island is the perfect escape, allowing the Rendells to unwind and enjoy family time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Brad and Mindy’s story is just one of many that illustrate the timeless allure of Sea Island. Their shared history with the island is a cornerstone of their family’s legacy, promising countless memories to come.
