For over nine decades, Sea Island has remained a pillar in our community, setting an example for stewardship and partnership, and embracing the causes of the area.
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow
A Community Philosophy
From Sea Island Company’s earliest days, the commitment and leadership of its founders and the company as a whole have played a substantial role in nurturing the unique atmosphere that residents of and visitors to the Golden Isles cherish. Much of what they enjoy — from area churches to schools, neighborhoods, and parks — has in some way been the positive result of the Jones family and the company’s efforts.
Purchased in 2016 by the Anschutz family, Sea Island Company is now part of a 100-year trust and continues to provide the long-term vision and concern for this exceptional part of the Georgia coast. Team members volunteer in most churches and community organizations in the area. Donations of all kinds provide ongoing assistance for hundreds of charities, both near and far. The company’s dedication to environmental stewardship continues uninterrupted. The traditions and commitments begun more than 95 years ago are as heartfelt and firm as ever.
A recent Economic Impact Study conducted by the University of Georgia Terry School of Business found that Sea Island annually contributes $1.5 billion in sales to Glynn County and the surrounding area.
For generations, Sea Island Team Members have given generously of their time as well as their finances to dozens of civic, religious, and educational organizations.
Through the years, Sea Island has been a strong proponent of conservation both through its actions and supporting legislation to preserve and protect the natural surroundings of the Golden Isles.
Sea Island Economic Impact
A recent Economic Impact Study conducted by the University of Georgia Terry School of Business found that Sea Island contributes $1.5 billion in sales to Glynn County which accounts for 15% of the total output produced in the county and represents 123% growth from 2015 when the last study was conducted. These studies measure how economic activity by Sea Island Company, its club members, guests, and team members contributes to the county’s overall financial health. Activity is defined as spending at Sea Island by its club members and guests; major capital projects conducted by the company; and spending by Sea Island’s club members, guests, and team members in Glynn County—outside the boundaries of Sea Island (such as at local restaurants, retailers, attractions, etc.). The latest study also noted that Sea Island is directly or indirectly responsible for nearly 9,000 jobs, 1 of every 7 jobs in Glynn County. This is significantly higher than the impact noted in 2015 where Sea Island was directly or indirectly responsible for over 6,000 jobs. With the results of this study reinforcing our role as an economic and community leader, we remain committed to fostering growth, creating opportunities, enhancing the well-being of residents, and investing in the future of Glynn County.
